44 LIGHTING MAGAZINE | December 2016/January 2017 December 2016/January 2017 | LIGHTING MAGAZINE 45 IESANZ 2016 LIGHTING DESIGN AWARDS – SOUTH AUSTRALIA View of the atrium from the ground floor (right) and the suspended ‘circuit-board’ lighting (above). TO PETER KEMP OF BESTEC FOR UNISA, 101 CURRIE ST, GROUND FLOOR OFFICES, ADELAIDE Upward and downward lighting in the UniSA offices (left) and the Zig-Zag lighting (right). Award of Excellence TO PAUL CAMOZZATO, CHRISTOPHER PARKER, MICHAEL CRANENDONK AND JENNY PETSCHENYK OF LUCID CONSULTING AUSTRALIA FOR CODAN LTD ATRIUM, MAWSON LAKES Designers’ statement: Codan Ltd is an Adelaide-based company specialising in the manufacture of electronics products. The existing two buildings incorporated two atrium areas architecturally linking the various work. Judges’ Comments: The fitout of an existing building for its new owners, Codan Ltd, challenged the design team to present a dynamic solution that reflects the company’s image in the design and manufacture of high quality high-end electronics products. The various work spaces use vibrant colours, textures and materials to create an invigorating and fun environment in which to work. The suspended LED lighting system has been designed to reflect Codan’s core business of circuit board manufacture. This installation is controlled by a Clipsal C-Bus touch panel, and provides the tenant total flexibility. Luminaire manufacturer: Inlite SA Architect: Christopher Parker Architects Award of Excellence Designer’s statement: The new office space for UniSA Facilities Management group consisted of combining two separate tenancies both with part mezzanines with low ceilings and double height showroom spaces into one space. The space needed to accommodate open plan workstations, executive offices, boardroom, meeting rooms and breakout spaces for the group. Judges’ Comments: The double height of the space with dramatic arched decorative windows required a unique solution to provide light for various office tasks. Illuminance levels are uniform; the absence of glare and shadows makes for a very comfortable workspace. The “Zig-Zag Light” (as it is affectionately known amongst the UniSA staff) is an excellent example of form and function while integrating with the interior’s architectural elements. Luminaire manufacturers: HI Lighting SA and Klik Systems Architect: Liana Walters of Wiltshire & Swain
